Summer Camps 2019

GLAS is happy to continue the Yerkes tradition of offering summer programs for elementary and middle school students!
We are hosting two (2) camps this summer.

Waters of Kishwauketoe
Grades 4&5

When: June 10-13, 2019, 8:00 am - Noon

What:
In the heart of Williams Bay is an amazing natural area. Dedicated to the children of today and tomorrow, Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy (KNC) is a special place to hike, observe, explore, and discover.    Birds, animals, fish, trees - they are all connected by the Waters of Kishwauketoe. Students entering grades four or five can join the staff of GLAS Education and the KNC to explore the many stops water makes on its trip through the conservancy; discover the importance of wetlands to the health of Geneva Lake;  learn how to measure the health of the streams, and even take time to do a little fishing.  Sign up soon, space is limited.

Bring the Sky Inside

When:  June 17-20, 2019, 8:00 am - Noon.

What: Calling artists and scientist alike! The astronomy teachers from Yerkes Observatory are at GLAS to help you create your own portable planetarium show. What's a portable planetarium?  It's an inflatable dome that holds up to twenty five people.  Inside there is a computer and projector that you will learn to control to show stars, planets and the heros of old. Use your new skills to tell your own stories or explain the how stars are born.  It's up to you.
